Women In The Workplace

More and more women are finding careers with growth potential in the nursing profession. Although it has always been a predominantly female occupation there has been an increase in the ratio of female to mail nurses. There are a few explanations for the increase. First more women are enrolling in secondary education programs than ever before. Secondly more women are going back to college to learn new skill sets or continue their education whether in the same profession or to take their career in a new direction.

There are a lot of benefits to becoming a nurse. Most importantly you are helping people and comforting them and there families in a time of need. I was speaking to a nurse after one of my speaking seminars and I asked her what she liked about being a nurse? She replied “I never have to worry about what I am going to wear to work!” I thought that was a very clever answer. In all seriousness nurses are sometimes made out to be the secretaries of the hospital workplace and in reality they are the first line of treatment and know several of the same skills and diagnosing capabilities as doctors.
